The ‘Seinfeld’ Guest Star That Was Banned From Set After ‘Swiping’ A Knife
The season two episode of Seinfeld, “The Jacket,” featured Lawrence Tierney as Elaine’s father; sadly, that was the last time Lawrence was seen on the show due to the concerning impression he left behind.
Michael Richards recalled how Lawrence swiped butcher knives from Jerry Seinfeld’s kitchen, which led to his ban from the set.
Lawrence was known for playing controversial roles that may or may not reflect his personal encounters.
He started out in the early ‘40s, starring in Gildersleeve on Broadway and Government Girl until his breakthrough role as bank thief John Dillinger in 1945’s Dillinger, which opened him up to playing similar niche characters in subsequent movies.
